Terms of Use
Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the services and products provided by Signtech (“we”, “us” or “our”), a company based in Jersey, Channel Islands. By engaging our services or purchasing our products, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services or products.
1. Services and Products
Signtech provides a diverse range of services and products, including but not limited to:
- Vehicle wrapping and paint protection
- Signage and graphics
- Design and printing services
- Other custom solutions as detailed on www.signtech.je
These Terms apply to all services and products unless otherwise specified in a separate written agreement. Specific terms for vehicle-related services, such as wrapping and paint protection, are outlined in Section 4 below.
2. General User Obligations
Customers must:
- Provide accurate and complete information required for the services or products.
- Ensure that items (e.g. vehicles and surfaces) are suitable for the requested services.
- Follow any specific aftercare or maintenance instructions provided by Signtech.
2.1 Asbestos Disclosure
If the Customer, property owner or their authorised agent is aware (or has reason to believe) that asbestos or asbestos-containing materials are present on the premises where the Services are to be carried out, they must:
- Notify Signtech in writing prior to the commencement of any works;
- Supply the current asbestos survey, register or management plan; and
- Clearly identify the location and extent of any asbestos-containing materials during the site induction or prior to the start of works.
Failure to disclose known asbestos may result in immediate suspension of works, additional charges (including the Compliance Fee and any abortive costs), and Signtech shall not be liable for any consequences arising from such non-disclosure.
3. Artwork Submission and Print-Ready Files
3.1 Customer Artwork
Where the Customer supplies artwork, designs, logos, images or other materials (“Customer Artwork”) for the provision of the Services or Products, the Customer must supply print-ready files that fully comply with Signtech’s current file specifications. These specifications are published on our website (signtech.je), communicated at the time of quotation or order, or available upon request.
Customers preparing files using design tools such as Canva should refer to Signtech’s Canva Preparation Guide (available via our website or on request) for guidance on producing compliant print-ready files.
3.2 Minimum Print-Ready File Requirements
- Preferred format
- High-resolution PDF/X-4 (or PDF 1.7 with all fonts outlined). Vector-based files in Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or EPS are also accepted.
- Colour mode
- CMYK only. RGB files will be converted at the Customer’s risk; Signtech accepts no responsibility for any resulting colour shifts. Spot/Pantone colours must be clearly specified and used only when agreed in writing.
- Resolution
- Raster images must be at least 150 dpi at full output size (300 dpi recommended for close-view graphics). Lower resolutions may result in pixelation or reduced print quality.
- Fonts
- All fonts must be embedded or outlined (converted to paths).
- Bleed and safe area
- Minimum 3 mm bleed on all sides; critical content must remain at least 5 mm inside the finished cut line.
- Transparency and effects
- All transparencies, drop shadows and other effects must be flattened where necessary.
- Layering and organisation
- Files should be supplied as single-page or single-artboard documents with layers appropriately named and organised wherever possible.
- Cut-to-shape artwork
- Where the artwork requires a cut path (for example, shaped signs, contour-cut vinyl, decals or similar), the Customer must include the cut line on a separate layer. The cut line must use a spot colour of 100% magenta named exactly CutContour.
Failure to supply the cut line correctly may lead to production delays, incorrect cutting or additional charges for rectification or re-submission.
3.3 Pre-Press Checks
Upon receipt of Customer Artwork, Signtech may (at its sole discretion) carry out basic pre-press checks. However, the Customer remains fully responsible for the accuracy, spelling, grammar, layout, colour accuracy, bleed, resolution, cut paths, suitability for the intended purpose and all other aspects of the supplied files.
3.4 Approval and Production
Signtech shall proceed to production upon the Customer’s approval of any digital proof (soft proof) provided, or upon acceptance of the supplied print-ready files if no proof is requested or provided. Once production has commenced, no changes or corrections may be made without incurring additional cost and possible delay.
3.5 Customer-Supplied Artwork
Signtech shall not be liable for any errors, defects, colour variations, poor resolution, cropping issues, incorrect cutting or other quality problems arising from Customer-supplied artwork, including any failure to comply with the specifications set out above or in our published guidelines (including Signtech’s Canva Preparation Guide where relevant).
3.6 Design and Artwork Charges
Where the Customer requires Signtech to create, amend or correct artwork (including to bring it up to print-ready standard), separate design charges will apply as quoted or as set out in Section 5 (Fees) (for example, £105 per hour + GST for Design Studio services). Any further edits or corrections requested after approval may attract additional charges.
4. Vehicle Wrapping and Paint Protection Services
4.1 Scope of Vehicle Services
Signtech offers vinyl wrapping and paint protection film (PPF) application services to enhance and protect your vehicle’s appearance. These services are subject to the limitations and disclaimers provided below.
4.2 Aftercare Instructions for Paint Protection Film (PPF)
To maintain the effectiveness and longevity of your PPF, please follow these aftercare instructions:
4.2.1 Initial Care
The PPF is self-healing and adjusts after application. Minor scratches and swirl marks will fade over time, particularly with heat exposure. A complimentary visual inspection is available two weeks post-application. Please contact us to schedule this to confirm the PPF has settled properly.
4.2.2 Cleaning and Maintenance
- Wait at least 7 days before washing your vehicle to allow the PPF to fully adhere.
- Use a pH-neutral car shampoo and a soft wash mitt.
- Avoid high-pressure washers and harsh chemicals.
- Dry the vehicle with a clean, soft microfibre towel to prevent water spots or streaks.
4.2.3 General Tips
PPF protects against road debris, scratches and environmental damage but is not indestructible. Avoid extreme conditions, track days or off-road use to preserve the film. Regularly wash and maintain your vehicle, avoiding abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that could harm the PPF.
4.3 Disclaimers for Vehicle Services
4.3.1 Coverage, Application Environment and Appearance
Due to PPF thickness and vehicle panel complexity, 100% coverage is not achievable. Our standard is 96% coverage per panel, meaning small edges may remain exposed. Colour differences may occur between PPF-wrapped panels and unwrapped or previously wrapped panels. This is normal and does not affect film performance.
All vinyl wrap and PPF applications are carried out in a professional workshop environment, not a sterile clean-room. Although Signtech takes reasonable steps to minimise dust and other contamination, small particles or minor cosmetic imperfections may occasionally be present beneath the film or become visible during or after application.
Visual finish standard: Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Signtech applies a visual finish standard of 95% to each individual wrapped element. An element will meet this standard where at least 95% of its visible surface is free from noticeable contamination or minor cosmetic imperfections when viewed from approximately one metre under normal daylight conditions.
Isolated imperfections within the remaining tolerance will not be treated as defects where they do not materially affect the film’s adhesion, protection, durability or overall appearance. This 95% visual finish standard is separate from, and does not reduce, the 96% coverage-per-panel standard stated above.
4.3.2 Liability Disclaimer for Paintwork Damage
Signtech is not liable for paintwork damage (e.g. peeling, chipping or fading) during vinyl wrapping or removal. Factors such as original paint quality, curing time and adherence to painting standards are beyond our control. Ensure your vehicle’s paint is in good condition before service.
4.3.3 Inspection and Post-Application Concerns
You or your authorised agent must inspect and approve the vehicle before it leaves our premises. Any concern that is reasonably apparent at collection must be raised before the vehicle is removed.
If an issue becomes apparent only after collection, please notify Signtech promptly and provide supporting photographs. Signtech may require the vehicle to be returned for assessment. Any remedial action will be determined by Signtech following inspection and in accordance with these Terms. Signtech does not cover third-party costs, and any work outside Signtech’s responsibility or the agreed scope will be chargeable.
5. Fees
We review our fee structure periodically. At the time of writing, our fees are as follows:
5.1 Design Studio Services
£105 per hour + GST. Should additional edits be requested, each instruction is chargeable separately.
5.2 Site Surveys
£250 for a Site Survey with a dedicated Account Manager. If the quote is accepted, the survey fee is incorporated into the quote.
5.3 Technician Services
£85 per hour + GST, whether production, outputting, installation or servicing.
5.4 Missed Installation Dates
A £250 + GST fee applies for missed installation dates caused by delayed delivery of items, vehicles, artwork or other assets to Signtech.
5.5 Deposits and Balances
For orders exceeding £2,000, a 50% deposit is required at the time of order placement. The remaining balance is due upon completion of the order and within 5 days of invoice issuance.
5.6 Compliance Fee
Certain installation sites or projects require Signtech personnel to hold specific training, certifications and/or documentation in order to comply with health and safety regulations, site-specific rules, Customer requirements or applicable law.
This may include (but is not limited to):
- DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks
- JSAT (or equivalent site-access training)
- Asbestos awareness training
- RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) preparation and approval
- Manual handling certification
- Working at Heights training
- Harness and fall-arrest system competency
- Hot works permit procedures
- Forklift operation certification
- Other site inductions, permits or risk assessments
Where such requirements apply, Signtech reserves the right to charge a Compliance Fee of £25 (excluding GST) per applicable site or project.
This fee covers the administrative costs, verification, coordination and preparation associated with meeting these compliance obligations.
The Compliance Fee will be:
- Clearly identified on any quotation, estimate, invoice or order confirmation;
- Payable in addition to the agreed service or installation fees; and
- Non-refundable once compliance preparations have commenced or the fee has been incurred.
In some cases, additional third-party costs (e.g. for specialist certifications, permits or external assessments) may be incurred. These will be passed on to the Customer at cost, plus any applicable administration charge.
Signtech will notify the Customer in advance where such additional costs are anticipated and will seek approval before proceeding. The Customer agrees to provide all necessary site information, access permissions and documentation in a timely manner to enable Signtech to assess and meet any compliance requirements. Failure to do so may result in project delays, for which Signtech shall not be liable, and may trigger the Compliance Fee regardless.
This fee helps ensure the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of our Services while meeting industry and regulatory standards.
5.7 Administration Fees
Signtech may charge administration fees on a Time and Material basis for late payments, investigations, supplier-portal processing (i.e. Coupa/Ariba), non-standard processes and re-submissions.
6. Payment Terms
Payment is due upon completion or delivery of services or products unless otherwise agreed in writing. Late payments may incur interest and fees as permitted by law.
7. Intellectual Property
All designs, materials and processes used by Signtech remain our intellectual property. Customers receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the services or products for their intended purpose only.
8. Liability and Disclaimers
8.1 General Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Signtech’s liability for claims arising under these Terms or in connection with our services or products is limited to the amount paid by you for the relevant services or products.
8.2 Specific Disclaimers
Vehicle services: See Section 4.3.
Other services and products: Signtech shall not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses (including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data or loss of use).

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Jersey. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Jersey.
11. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. The updated Terms will be effective upon posting on our website. Your continued use of our services or products after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
